Hi!, 

This is a blog set up by a university student (me) for PR (Public Relations) students (you). Pixels, Power-up and Public Relations can also be a place for people who are interested in gaming, PR or both. I want to keep the topics light-hearted, fun and interactive with a public relations twist. It ranges from interactive graphs, online posts and videos or images. 

This blog can be for anyone with an interest from those who work in either industry who want to develop their skills or knowledge on the topic. However, this blog is great for those starting their journey in public relations as many skills can cross over and this blog will guide you through the wild, mundane and creative. Whether it be case studies, theories or topical, this blog serves as a jump off point for anyone beginning their interest even if they do not relate fully to gaming. 

I just want to show how my studies as a student can lead to niche industries which include gaming. I also hope that this blog can show the importance of public relations in the gaming industry for those starting out in gaming development.

 Hi, So, as we all know I am a PR MA student and before that I was studying journalism. Throughout my education, I racked up lots of skills, content and student debt. The first two will be the ones this blog post will showcase (if you do want to help out on the last part I am not turning down a rich millionaire.)  Why is it important to have an online portfolio?  Well, by recording the work you have created you can upload them on a platform or doc which can be viewed by potential employers to back up your creativity and initiative. It can show who you are and your interests visually and your dedication. It does not have to be fancy or eloquent, just a few pages here and there that you can send. The gaming industry is full of statistics and facts, from gaming units to social media platforms you cannot escape the figures. Maths and numbers are all around us (which isn’t great if you’re like me who hated maths and had to re-sit. I guess my teacher was right when she said that we will use maths even after secondary school. This blog post will go over the role of a community manager in the gaming industry. This infographic showcases various aspects of the role from what it can entail, responsibilities and the skills required.
